Haribhai believed that “As a vehicle is governed by its steering wheel, life of a person is governed by his thoughts. The life is shaped according to the thoughts of a person.”
The organisation thus started publishing articles and books spreading motivational thoughts of nobility and humanity. This included magazine for children to nurture them with values and principles in life as well as a monthly magazine ‘Suvichar’ containing speeches of social reformers, leaders and saints. Today nearly ten thousand life time members have become habitual of reading Suvichar every month. Many of them regularly give their feedbacks and suggestions on articles.
Since early sixties Haribhai worked on transforming prisoners. Fortunately he received a good support and cooperation from the jail authorities. He started library, cassette library with cassettes of bhajans, prayers and ethical speeches and also supported to start a cyclostyle quarterly magazine ‘Hridaymanthan’ for prisoners of Sabarmati Jail.
Moreover, he successfully experimented celebration of ‘Rakshabandhan’ in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Vadodara jail which had received quite a good response from prisoners as well as the authorities. Following his ideology, recently the organisation enrolled five prisoners in the first batch and ten prisoner in second batch of a two months’ training on ‘bed-side assistance course’ which may be useful for them for livelihood post imprisonment.
There was a time when Gujarat was one of the most disaster prone states of the country. Every other year the state used to face one or the other natural or man-made disasters. The state had faced floods, cyclone, heavy rains, drought, frequent communal violence, terrorist attacks and one of the most devastating earth quake between nineties and in the beginning of the new millennium. Sadvichar Parivar stood by the victims of these catastrophes for relief and rehabilitation.
